Logan Eberly – Loading Dock Co-Op

My name is Logan Eberly, and I enrolled in the co-op program. I enrolled in the co-op program because I needed credit to graduate, and this allowed me to get all of them, so I could graduate on time. I also chose to do the program because I enjoy working. It was a good opportunity to get more hours and gain more experience in the real world.

I work at STBI Trucking in Kinzers, PA. unloading and loading trucks with a forklift. While I am working at STBI, I am learning hard skills such as operating a forklift, which didn’t take me long to get the hang of. I am also learning how the trucking industry works as well which I do find interesting. I also have the chance to exercise the skill to work with people, whether that be with the truck driver to fit a big pallet order into the trailer, or finding freight and putting it together with my co-workers. Sometimes we have to break down an order and spread it out over other pallets so we can make it fit or we stack orders on other orders.

STBI is a truck brokerage company, so we get pallets of mostly food products, and we store them in our warehouse until they get shipped out on another truck. So if you work in the warehouse, your job is to go into a trailer and take these pallets out, then load the trailer back up. If they are taking freight, they don’t always take things back with them. But we get sheets that tell us.

I originally worked at Shady Maple in East Earl, PA. While I was in co-op, I got to work with Mrs. Martin, and through the co-op program, I found this job at STBI, where I get at least 40 hours a week and a job that I am passionate about. Co-op has been a great experience and program for me, and it gave me the chance to graduate on time again, as well as making money while doing it. I am very happy that I chose to enroll in this program, and it’s been fun.
